Garden Landscape by Louis Comfort Tiffany (American, 1848–1933) is one of the highlights of the American Wing at The Met. He began experimenting with iridescent and transparent tesserae in the 1880s, inspired by Byzantine mosaics he had seen abroad, and he used glass mosaics in many interiors, from churches to department stores. Garden Landscape (ca. 1905–15) was displayed in the Tiffany showrooms until 1938.
