Artist Pat Blair's "Wall Flyers" are representations of the birds that he and his sweetie Jeanine feed at their beautiful home that overlooks Humboldt Bay in Northern California. Made completely from copper, each bird is a signed original. Although packaged & sold individually, wallflyers create a unique installation when hung together. Each Wall Flyer is made of copper, and has a thumbtack welded to the back. Just remove the tack protector from the back of the gift card, and push the tack into the wall.
The colors in each Wall Flyer are a result of flame painting; a technique of color metals using heat. Firescale and other surface impurities are removed and the metal is brought back to the original, bright, new copper-penny color. A torch is then reintroduced to heat the piece, which brings out the coppers natural palette of colors.
