Our scented candle in a covered tin highlights details from a luminous glass vase (ca. 1900) in The Met collection by Louis C. Tiffany (American, 1848–1933). The natural wax candle, which burns for 50 hours, features fragrant notes of wild plum, fig leaf, oud wood, and spices.
In the early 1890s, the Gilded Age master developed a method of blending different colors together in glass while it was in a molten state, thus achieving subtle effects of shading and texture. He called this type of glass, which was often noted for its iridescence, Favrile glass.
