Presented in a giftable canister, this pair of ornaments celebrates two motifs by William Morris (British, 1834–1896) in The Met collection: the kaleidoscopic Strawberry Thief, a textile designed in 1883 and produced for the Workshop of Morris & Company about 1917–23; and the blooming vines decorating the late 19th-century Holland Park carpet. As the leading figure of the Arts and Crafts movement in Britain, Morris envisioned highly decorative wallpapers, textiles, furniture, stained glass, and books in abundance. An enduring fascination with nature informed his visual vernacular of floral and foliate patterns.
