Leicester, the inspiration for these earrings, is a pattern created in 1911 by John Henry Dearle for Morris & Co. Dearle's contributions to textile design were long overshadowed by the towering figure of William Morris. Dearle exhibited early patterns under the Morris name and even today many Dearle designs are popularly offered as William Morris patterns.
