Painted Lady Butterflies prefer to feed from tall (3-6 feet high) plants, like asters. They are susceptible to light changes and movement and can often escape their predators through quick flight. Males perch and patrol during the afternoon for females ready to mate. The adults only live for about two weeks, feeding exclusively on nectar.
