Inspired by a Roycroft flower bowl made in the 1920’s.
Our copper smiths gather and melt discarded copper for use in their workshops. They employ the bonfire method, which involves slowly heating and hammering until the metal is raised. Once the bowl or vase walls are formed each piece is finished with a special hammer. The metal oxidizes and the finish becomes matte. Colors darken to deep browns and reds, depending on the amount of salt in the air and how often the copper piece is handled. Each piece is proudly signed by its creator. This completely bowl measures approx. 4.75″ wide and 2.5″ high.
Handmade and fairly traded in Michoacán, Mexico.
