Living and working in Chicago, Robert Jarvie was heavily influenced by Prairie School architecture with its floriform terra cotta ornamentation and contrasting modern lines. Jarvie was also influenced by Arts and Crafts furniture and the west coast handcraft tradition in metalworking.
