The rich colors and bold patterns of this style of tile have been used for centuries in traditional moorish architecture. The Alhambra Palace was first constructed in the mid-1300s, on the edge of Granada in Spain, for the last Muslim Emirs (kings) in Spain and the Nasrid dynasty. Later, in the 16th century, it was renovated and modified for King Charles V. As a result, european features mingle with some of the finest examples of moorish architecture in the world.
