You can tell a little about a person by where she leaves her rings at the end of the day. Maybe beside the sink before washing dishes. On the dresser before climbing into bed. Or on an altar among candles, herbs, and other things whose meaning does not need to be explained. This small ceramic witch hat keeps them gathered until morning. Each one is shaped by hand, so the brim moves a little differently and no two tips bend quite the same way. Some stand straight. Some lean. Each seems to arrive with a personality already forming. Leave it out long after the apples are gone and the last candle of the season has burned down. Some of us never needed the witch hats to be seasonal.
