This vase has been carefully torched to create a yakisugi effect, a traditional Japanese technique where the surface of the wood is lightly burned. This process enhances the natural grain, bringing out deep, rich textures and contrast while giving the piece a distinctive charred finish.
Each piece is made by hand as a sculptural form, not turned on a lathe or CNC-machined, so no two are ever exactly the same. Youâll see natural variations in shape, size, and grain...those little differences are part of what makes each one special. Every vase is carefully hand-sanded and finished with Danish oil and polyurethane to bring out the woodâs natural warmth and character.
